Drying Process

Each of our tables is carefully crafted from the finest wood available. We visit each of our suppliers annually to place orders and ensure our high-quality standards are consistently met.

The logs selected for our tables are harvested and allowed to air dry for 2-3 years. This natural drying process allows the tannins in the wood to gradually dissipate, resulting in the rich, contrasting colors that are a hallmark of our tables and furniture.

After the 2-3 year drying period, the wood is kiln-dried to remove any remaining moisture, ensuring it reaches the necessary stability for use in fine furniture.

Surfacing

We flatten each of our tables using a large machine called a Wood Wizz. This piece of= equipment allows us to work much more efficiently than our competitors and providing a better quality product, ensuring we maximize the thickness of each slab. The machine is roughly the size of a car and occupies a substantial footprint in our shop.

Flat

We take multiple precautionary steps to make sure our tables stay flat for their lifetime. We inlay steel in the bottom of each table which helps negotiate with the natural wood movement. Wood slabs, much like a real wooden door in your home will shrink/expand throughout the seasons. We also utilize full 1 inch bar steel in our leg construction which also helps reinforce and maintain our table’s plane over time.

Spray Finishing

Spray finishes are often praised for their durability in woodworking due to their ability to create a smooth, even coating that is resistant to scratches, moisture, and wear. Unlike oil-based finishes, which can require multiple coats and longer curing times, spray finishes typically provide a faster, more consistent application and are far more durable making our tables last a lifetime. Spray finishes, such as our 2 part solvent based polyurethane tend to cure to a hard, protective layer that resists the effects of environmental factors like humidity and temperature changes, making them ideal for furniture that will endure heavy use.

Quality Control

Each of our craftsmen is empowered to make decisions based on quality, not cost. While it might be more economical to overlook a small imperfection that no client will ever notice, we are driven by a commitment to excellence. Much like the character in The Tell-Tale Heart, we can't ignore these flaws—so we fix them, ensuring every piece meets our high standards.

Jerry, our owner, is very selective when hiring, and this is reflected in both our team's compensation and expectations. We pay 40% more than our competitors because we believe our employees deserve a wage that allows them to live well and be inspired to create the best products for our clients.

Jerry personally inspects every piece before it leaves the shop and is hands-on with most local deliveries, as well as larger national shipments. His attention to detail ensures that every order meets our exceptional quality standards.

This is your table and you control every detail.

Lets collaborate and design something that reflects your style.
